MSC Cruises’ ship MSC Virtuosa will have a refreshed lineup of entertainment starting this summer, just in time for sailings to destinations including Norway, the Canary Islands, Europe’s Atlantic coast, and more.

Dirty Dancing: In Concert

The headlining act for MSC Virtuosa’s new entertainment roster is “Dirty Dancing: In Concert.” The live-to-film concert experience takes the beloved film to a new level, combining a live band, singers, and dancers to bring the iconic movie to life.

Debuting on July 10th, the ship will be the only place in Europe to see the production, as it will also be featured on MSC World America sailing from Florida to the Caribbean.

Guests will have multiple chances to enjoy “Dirty Dancing: In Concert” during each cruise, including a matinee on sea days. The 90-minute concert features the band, singers, and dancers performing in sync with the movie. The production culminates with a high-energy finale, where guests will be invited to join the celebration and sing along at a Dirty Dancing-themed afterparty.

In addition to Dirty Dancing, passengers can expect two other shows in the main theater: “Songbook Abba” featuring ABBA’s greatest hits and “Starwalker,” highlighting the classic music of Michael Jackson with iconic songs and memorable dance moves.

More New Entertainment

Other new entertainment that will be featured on MSC Virtuosa this summer include “Hall of Fame,” which will first be debuting on MSC World America. The thrilling live concert will celebrate pop legends with iconic music and moments that will lift spirits and create lasting memories.

The Carousel Lounge on the ship will feature two brand-new cirque aerial shows for MSC — one launching in June and the other this fall. Production is underway, with the official names still being decided by families and kids on board.

Delivering surprise pop-up performances, the MSC Street Theatre will entertain guests around the ship including poolside and at bars, restaurants, and on the promenade. A number of new sports, games, and other daytime activities will also debut aboard MSC Virtuosa this year.

The ship will also offer new LEGO experiences for kids and families, such as the LEGO Family Game Show where parents and kids come together to compete in a timed team challenge using LEGO bricks. A LEGO Family Parade featuring LEGO walkabouts that will march through various locations across the ship will also be a hit with families.

MSC Cruises has announced the godmother of its upcoming U.S. flagship MSC World America — Drew Barrymore.

Barrymore will cut the ribbon and trigger the traditional breaking of a bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull alongside Orlando Bloom; the two were co-stars in MSC’s “Let’s Holiday” campaign that debuted during the Super Bowl last month. MSC World America‘s naming ceremony will be held on April 9th at MSC’s brand-new cruise terminal in Miami.

“When MSC Cruises asked me to be the Godmother of MSC World America, I immediately said yes!” said Drew Barrymore, actress and host of the Drew Barrymore Show. “I absolutely love to travel—it fuels my soul—and being part of something that helps people set off on incredible adventures is just amazing. There’s something so magical about cruises; they let you discover the world in this really fun, unexpected way. And to be able to name MSC World America and send the ship off with well wishes and good luck is such an honor.”

Guests at MSC World America‘s naming ceremony will include the global press, dignitaries, and travel advisors. They will enjoy a gala dinner and entertainment, along with the chance to experience everything the ship has to offer.

After the ceremony, MSC World America will depart on a celebratory three-night sailing to MSC’s private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay. While docked at Ocean Cay, the MSC Foundation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Marine Conservation Center. The facility will serve as a hub for scientists and students involved in the foundation’s Super Coral Program, as well as a place where guests can learn more about the program’s mission to restore coral reefs that have been impacted by climate change.

MSC World America will sail year-round from Miami, offering seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises. The eastern itinerary visits Puerto Plata, San Juan, and Ocean Cay. The western route calls at Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, and Ocean Cay.

“As a family company with over 300 years of seafaring heritage, these events hold a special and personal significance for us. We value the important maritime tradition where our Godmother breaks a bottle of champagne on the hull and officially names the ship, bringing good luck and protection,” said Suzanne Salas, EVP, Marketing, eCommerce & Sales, MSC Cruises USA. “Drew is the perfect Godmother for MSC World America, and we are thrilled to continue to partner with her for this campaign. She embodies our brand perfectly, with her exquisite style and grace, and her passion for the comfort and adventure we find through travel.”

MSC Cruises’ newest mega ship, MSC World America, is one step closer to her debut this April. The vessel has successfully completed the deep-water intensive systems tests during a final sea trial in the Atlantic Ocean.

MSC World America will be MSC Cruises’ 23rd ship. It’s the second ship in the line’s World class following MSC World Europa, which launched in December 2022. World America will have many of the same features as World Europa, but with some reimagined venues and concepts tailored for the U.S. market.

The sea trials checked the performance of the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel consumption, safety systems, speed, and stopping distances. World America will now receive her final finishing touches at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France before being officially delivered to MSC on March 27th.

MSC World America will be officially named during a ceremony on April 9th at MSC Cruises’ new cruise terminal in Miami — the largest cruise terminal in the world.

The ship’s maiden voyage will be a celebratory sailing to MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay. World America‘s official inaugural season will begin on April 12th as it operates alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises. Port calls will include Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, and Ocean Cay.

MSC World America comes in at a whopping 216,638 gross tons and is 1,093 feet long. There are 2,614 guest cabins, able to accommodate up to 6,762 passengers. The ship features 18 bars and lounges and 19 dining venues, including four main dining rooms, two buffets, two MSC Yacht Club restaurants, and six additional specialty restaurants.

New dining concepts on board include Greek restaurant Paxos and the only Eataly restaurant at sea, along with new complimentary fast casual options. Two brand-new lounge concepts are also debuting on MSC World America: the All-Stars Sports Bar and The Loft — a multi-purpose venue for comedy, karaoke, and more.

There are two additional World-class ships on order for MSC Cruises: MSC World Asia with a scheduled delivery in 2026 and a not-yet-named fourth vessel set for a 2027 debut.

There’s a new largest cruise terminal on the planet, and it’s in the cruise capital of the world: Miami, Florida. The terminal belongs to MSC Cruises, which welcomed its first ship to the state-of-the-art facility this morning. The special day for MSC created an extra-special occasion for PortMiami, as it welcomed a record 10 cruise ships today.

Brand-New MSC Cruises Terminal

MSC Seascape was the lucky first ship to call at the brand-new terminal, which is able to accommodate up to three ships at once. Up to 36,000 guests will be able to pass through the terminal per day.

The project is a partnership between the Cruise Division of MSC Group, PortMiami, and Miami-Dade County. The iconic structure was designed by Arquitectonica and built by Fincantieri Infrastructure.

Four MSC cruise ships will call the terminal home throughout 2025, alongside ships from MSC Group’s luxury cruise brand Explora Journeys. One of those ships will be MSC’s new upcoming flagship MSC World America, which will debut in April and be christened at the terminal. From Miami, the vessel will operate seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises year-round.

As a destination, Miami-Dade is undoubtedly the center of world cruise tourism with incredible weather, culture and unlimited options for exciting experiences.”

The 2025 season will be filled with new cruise ships for PortMiami. They include Cunard’s Queen Anne (January), MSC World America (April), Norwegian Aqua (April), Wonder of the Seas (August), Queen Elizabeth (October), Brilliant Lady (October), and Oceania’s Allura (November).

MSC Cruises has announced that its fourth mega World class ship will be homeported in Port Canaveral. It will join the lineup at the eastern Florida port for the 2027-2028 season, offering seven-night Caribbean cruises year-round. The ship, which has not yet been named, will join MSC World America as MSC’s second World-class vessel to operate in North America.

In the meantime, MSC Grandiosa will offer year-round seven-night Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral in winter 2026-2027, building upon previously-announced plans to sail from Port Canaveral in winter 2025-2026. MSC Seashore will continue to offer year-round three and four-night Bahamas voyages from Port Canaveral, which it is currently operating.

“Our commitment to Port Canaveral is stronger than ever, thanks to the incredible support from our partners there and the growing demand from our guests who love the port’s convenient location,” said Lynn Torrent, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer of MSC Cruises. “Having ships dedicated to offering both short and 7-night cruises year-round will ensure we have the right options available no matter when someone wants to sail. We’re especially excited to bring a World Class ship to Port Canaveral, continuing our long-standing pledge to deploy our most modern and innovative ships in the Caribbean market.”

MSC Cruises’ World-class platform launched in 2022 with the debut of MSC World Europa, which sails seven-night Mediterranean cruises. In April, U.S. guests will have the opportunity to sail one of these mega-ships close to home when MSC World America debuts. The ship will operate seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruises from Miami.
