Disney Cruise Line has two ships debuting later this year, and one of them has reached a major milestone in the construction process. Disney Destiny, which will be the seventh Disney vessel, was floated up at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany last week.

When a ship is “floated up,” it means that it’s touching water for the first time and that most of the exterior work has been completed. The float up process for Disney Destiny began when the building dock was filled with water from the Ems River in order to lift it from the floor of the chamber. The ship was then guided to another position in the building hall.

From there, the team will begin testing different systems onboard, including the main engines. In the coming months, the interior will be built out.

Disney Destiny is the third ship in Disney’s Wish class (also known as the Triton class) following Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. Set for a November debut, the vessel will feature a heroes and villains theme. Highlights of the ship will include a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed pub, ‘The Sanctum’ Dr. Strange-themed lounge, De Vil’s piano bar, a Lion King-themed main restaurant, and the returning Haunted Mansion Parlor bar.

Disney Destiny will sail from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, operating four and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and western Caribbean.

Another upcoming Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Adventure, is also scheduled to debut this year. In December, the Singapore-based mega ship will launch, operating three and four-night cruises to nowhere.

When you have kids, everyone tells you that your “vacation” days are over. From now on, you can go someplace else — but you’ll just be parenting with a change of scenery. There is some truth to this, especially when your kids are little. On our first family vacations, my husband made a point of smirking and mouthing “this is the fun of being a parent” every time we would be up at the crack of dawn with a wide-awake child, in our room mid-afternoon for his nap, at a restaurant we wouldn’t normally choose because they had a good kids’ menu, or in bed at 8 pm with the lights out coaxing him to sleep on our vacations. His taunting continued for years.

My son turned five last May, and I recently took him on his first Disney cruise aboard Disney Cruise Line’s 2,700-passenger Disney Magic. (My teenage stepsons said “hard pass” to a ship filled with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers — their personal nightmares.) So it was just the three of us, and the trip was an eye opener in so many ways. On one hand, it enabled my husband and I to have more of a “break” on vacation than we ever have at hotels, resorts or AirBnBs. But we also learned a different way of cruising than the trips we took before our little guy was born, and picked up a lot of helpful insights along the way.

my son's first Disney cruise

I’ve Been on More than 100 Cruises — And This Is What I Learned from My Son’s First Disney Cruise

Family-friendly ships are designed for kids.

If you’ve traveled without children, like I did for many years, your first cruise on a ship like Disney Magic with kids is an eye opener. The ship is designed for children. As an adult, you are not the target audience. (Though, all Disney cruise ships do have adult-friendly options including everything from a spa, bars, and specialty restaurants for those traveling without little ones.)

My son’s favorite thing is Marvel and, walking into the Oceaneer Club for the first time for a tour, his little eyes lit up. Sure, there’s Andy’s Room, a multi-level play area that celebrates the “Toy Story” movies with a Slinky Dog slide, and Pixie Hollow, a crafting area themed to Tinker Bell’s forest. They looked pretty cool to me. But his eyes focused right in on the Marvel Super Hero Academy.

A counselor walked over and showed him how to play the Marvel virtual reality game that’s only available on this ship. He jumped up and down, punching the air to fend off the bad guys, delighting in watching his character mirror his movements on the giant video projection. Then he turned to face me with a grin, “Can I stay while you and Daddy tour the ship?” He was all in. And the best part is that all of these activities are included in the cruise fare.

Most playrooms at sea don’t allow parents inside.

As was the case on Disney Magic, the playrooms for kids — with different rooms based on their ages — are just for the little ones. Grown-ups are not allowed in outside of open houses. So, whether your child is a Marvel devotee or a Disney princess aficionado, the programming in there is just for them.

Kids are given wristbands that are scanned in when they come and go to track them. Both parents and kids can pull the plug on playtime whenever they like: parents can just show up and take them to other parts of the ship, and kids can ask for their parents to pick them up whenever they like. But as long as the little ones are enjoying their playtime, that’s not family time – it’s just for them.

Disney ships create magical vacations for every member of the family … but not always together.

From that first moment, the Marvel Super Hero Academy was like a magnet, pulling my son back into the Oceaneer Club whenever possible. I had explained to him that pre-pandemic the ship’s camp counselors would come to the dining rooms mid-way through dinner, scoop up the little ones that had finished their chicken fingers or burger or buttered pasta, and bring them up to the playroom so that parents could finish their meal alone — and maybe even get a cocktail afterward.

Disney Cruise Line temporarily discontinued this program in 2020. (However, the cruise line recently brought the “Dine & Play” program back in February 2025, and we couldn’t be more excited.)

Halfway through our dinner on the first night, my son looked me straight in the eye and said “So, they don’t pick up kids in the dining room anymore? But you or Daddy could take me up to the playroom and drop me off and then finish your dinner. It’s a great plan for everyone!” I looked at him sadly – he really didn’t want to have dinner with us? Nope, not with that amazing Marvel Super Hero Academy just upstairs. He wanted to take advantage of as many minutes as he could get up there, where he was able to not only play video games but have unlimited screen time, too. (Two things we don’t allow at home.)

My husband and I tried to enjoy getting to eat our desserts — and his, too — in peace and quiet, but there was an air of rejection between us. It feels different when a couple with kids finally gets time alone … but it’s because, for the first time, their kid has someplace else they’d rather be.

Activities for kids extend past the Oceaneer Club.

On one day of my Disney Magic sailing, the schedule of events included meet-and-greets with various Marvel super heroes, offered in sequence in a lounge from morning until just past lunchtime. He met with Spiderman, Black Panther, Captain America, and Thor. With the meet-and-greets an hour apart, everyone in line could meet their hero, have a quick chat, and take a few soon-to-be-cherished photos. My son was no exception – you only need to see the look of delight on his face in the picture when he’s standing next to Spider-Man to know how much the moment means to him.

These meet-and-greets took up the better half of our day, and were followed by a class in making your own hammer, led by Thor himself. My husband and I took turns shuttling my son around to these events, all of which felt, well, mandatory. Would I really be a good mom if I told my son, who seems sometimes to actually think he is an Avenger himself, that we were going to skip some of these moments and all go hang out at the pool together instead? It didn’t feel like it. And so we brought him to every event that was on the schedule.

The crew can make magic happen.

Of course, when you go on a Disney cruise, you fully expect the Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles on the buffet line and the chocolate-dipped Mouse head ice cream popsicles served at dessert. You even expect moments of great service, such as when our cabin steward noticed that my son loved the grapes on our welcome cheese tray and brought him more.

But a couple nights into our sailing, our cabin steward – who had noticed my son’s tendency to wear Marvel clothing and even Avenger costumes throughout our sailing — changed the sheets on his bed to Marvel sheets. He returned from dinner that night and squealed in delight. Honestly, this cruise could not have been a bigger hit with him.

my son's first Disney cruise

Themed cruises are a true gift on these ships.

My son’s second favorite thing to Marvel? That would be Halloween. And our sailing, which took place in mid-September, was the first of the season’s “Halloween on the High Seas” themed cruises. The ship was already decked out with everything from pumpkins on the big tree in the foyer to jack-o’-lantern decals on portholes.

We took a “challenge accepted” attitude, and I packed The Incredibles family costumes for the first night and Star Wars family costumes for the second night, when we would take Joshua around the buffet area for a trick-or-treat experience set up by the crew.

Everything, from mealtimes to on-deck celebrations, are kid-oriented.

Disney Cruise Line has an ingenious rotational dining program in which families dine in each of the restaurants onboard for different nights, with the same table numbers and wait staff in each one. The result? After the first night, our waiter and waitress had our drinks waiting on the table when we arrived (diet coke for my husband, iced tea for me, and chocolate milk — with just a smidge of chocolate — for the little one). They had even placed the order for my son’s preferred meal of a cheeseburger with chicken fingers and fruit on the side — hold the French fries, hold the veggies, don’t bother with dessert.

Some of the dining rooms also had dinner theater-style shows incorporated into the mealtime experience. Fun as they were, my son was still out of there as soon as he could be. He’s no fool. He knew his beloved virtual reality game would be most empty at dinnertime, when he wouldn’t have to take turns.

And the signature DCL on-deck celebration? That would be a pirate-themed stage show complete with fireworks. Kids are given red bandanas and eye patches to wear – for many, that meant along with their Disney costume of choice. It was fun to watch the fleet of superheroes and princesses dance along to the pop music. The crew was also passing bubble wands out on deck, so even before the fireworks started the audience was filled with bubbles that made the moment feel extra celebratory.

Of course, keeping your preschooler up until 10 pm to see fireworks comes with its own built-in punishments, but it appeared most families were willing to make the necessary sacrifices of overtired bedtimes and cranky morning sleepy heads.

Private islands are a welcome family experience.

On our sailing, we stopped at the new Lookout Cay at Lighhouse Point, a Bahamian “private island” resort space that Disney Cruise Line had just unveiled at the beginning of the summer. It was, in so many ways, an ideal family beach day. Picture a long pink strand that was so beautiful my husband assumed Disney had trucked in the palm trees and blush-hued sand to create a gorgeous Insta-worthy setting. (Nope, it’s naturally that spectacular.)

When we were ready for a break, there were plenty of buffets serving kid-friendly items along with the nods to Bahamian fare, which included curry, spiced rotisserie chicken, racks of ribs, pigeon peas and rice, plantains, and fried okra. There were also plenty of other little children to make sandcastles with when jumping waves with Mom and Dad got tiresome. It was a perfect beach day for all of us – and that family vacation moment I suspect I’ll hang on to for years.

Ready to make more memories, I’ll be sailing on Disney Dream with my little one soon. And he can’t wait to go into warp speed in the playroom’s Millennium Falcon.

We are back from our second cruise on Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. This DCL cruise ship offers new dining and entertainment, along with plenty of familiar favorites. During our seven days onboard, we experienced it all and share our signature Disney Treasure cruise ship review to help you decide if it’s right for your next vacation.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Casual Dining

Disney Treasure, much like sister ship Disney Wish, is home to some of the best grab and go dining options at sea.

Heidi and I couldn’t get enough of Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods on the pool deck. Donald’s Cantina mixes up custom-made tacos, bowls, or salads. However, one ingredient that was definitely missing was nacho chips.

Goofy’s Grill is home to typical lido deck fare, like hamburgers and hotdogs. But it also serves irresistible chicken fingers and fries. Additionally, Mickey’s Smokestack BBQ offers classics like ribs, roasted chicken, sausages, and pulled pork with various sauces.

Although, Daisy’s Pizza was a bit of a letdown. In our opinion, the pizza here ranks below average especially when compared to other lines like Princess Cruises or Virgin Voyages.

Inside, Marceline Market is Disney Treasure’s buffet. The breakfast options included all your typical selections that remained the same throughout the cruise. We were able to get custom-made omelets with a short wait. Of course, there was also an endless supply of Mickey waffles for kids and adults alike, along with other continental and hot breakfast items.

Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review Lunch at Mercaline Market

I couldn’t pass up the signature shrimp cocktail and crab legs for lunch. These staples of the Disney buffet are available every day. There are other upgraded seafood options as well, along with more traditional fare like pre-made salads and international cuisine that varied daily.

However, this dining venue is not open for dinner. Thus, guests must go to the main dining rooms if they want a substantial dinner meal.

Pool Deck

Disney Treasure features eight pools scattered throughout the outdoor decks. Most of them are relatively small and often filled with families and kids.

Midship on Decks 11 and 12 are the six main pools. Of course, they are all named after Disney characters. The Mickey and Minnie pools are the largest, flanking the forward and aft end of the Deck 11 pool area. However, Mickey’s pool is often closed as it doubles as the main stage for outdoor deck parties and shows. Cascading up from the Minnie Pool, there are also the smaller Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and Goofy pools and additional sun loungers on Deck 12.

Pool Deck on Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

These two outdoor decks can get busy on sunny sea days. So, don’t be surprised if all the deck chairs are claimed by mid-morning.

Fun fact – If you stand on the forward end of the deck and look aft, you will see that the pools form a hidden Mickey.

Guests looking for the quietest family pool should head forward on Deck 14. Here, the Chip and Dale pool area features plenty of additional loungers mostly in the shade. The nearby Currents Bar isn’t too far away for a daytime drink either.

Those with little ones will find a friend at the Toy Story Splash Pad on Deck 12 forward. Next to the Splash-a-Saurus Rex waterslide and Trixie’s Falls, this area is tucked away from the main pool deck. Wheezy’s Freezies is right next door, serving non-alcoholic frozen smoothies, a limited bar, and Dole Whip.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Finally, adults can escape the crowds (and kids!) at the Quiet Cove. All the way aft on Deck 13, this is where Heidi and I spent most of our time outdoors. The Quiet Cove offers a variety of plush loungers, oversized chairs, a café, and a bar. Not to mention, there’s an infinity pool overlooking the ship’s stern. However, the area is a tad small for a ship of its size, especially when compared to Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Sports Deck

While Disney Treasure is geared toward families and kids, there are not as many outdoor activities as you would expect, like a basketball court or mini-golf course found on other ships in the fleet.

Instead, Deck 13 is home to the main sports area, the Hero Zone. This indoor complex has a full-sized basketball court with a variety of open play and competitions scheduled throughout the cruise. There are also air hockey tables, foosball tables, and cornhole to use free of charge.

Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

The big draw in the Hero Zone is the Incredi-Games challenge course. If you are unfamiliar with this inflatable challenge, the Incredi-Games is an obstacle course where two “athletes” go head-to-head to see who can make it up, down, and through several challenges the fastest.

The event happened several times during our week-long cruise, so check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for dates and times during your sailing.

Of course, there’s also the AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg towering above the pool deck. This water raft ride is complimentary, and it is a fun time. I donned my bathing suit and hop on this 760-foot-long attraction, which puts guests in the middle of a Mickey and Minnie animated adventure. The ride is open to all guests who are at least 42 inches or taller—just time your ride so you are not stuck in a long line.

AquaMouse on Disney Treasure

Finally, the Senses Fitness Center is on Deck 5, all the way forward. It offers various workout equipment, cardio machines, and free weights. There is also a cycle room and fitness classes, which are an up-charge. Disappointingly, the ship does not have a dedicated walking/jogging track; though, many do use the outdoor promenade which starts on Deck 4 and ascends to Decks 5 and 6.

Onboard Activities

Disney experts and casual fans alike will find a variety of themed activities on Disney Treasure. We held our own in some competitions, like the Beauty and the Beast trivia, but I certainly did not measure up to the real Jedi masters in the Star Wars-themed sessions.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Games like Majority Rules and the ship’s take on Hollywood Squares featuring the Disney villains took place in the Sarabi Lounge, along with other events like a Silent Disco, Match Your Mate, and other adult-only activities in the evenings.

There were also family events and karaoke throughout the day, mostly occurring in the Triton Lounge.

In addition to game shows and trivia, guests could also learn to draw Disney characters or create their own keepsakes at the art classes.

Perhaps the highlights of the Disney Treasure onboard activities were the various events hosted by the ship’s storytellers, Sage and Coriander. These included the Choose Wisely Indiana Jones-themed comedy adventure, the Jungle Cruise interactive adventure, and a hilarious retelling of Disney’s Aladdin. We thought this duo was a great addition to the Disney entertainment line-up.

Disney Treasure Storytellers

Of course, Disney Treasure had many character meet-and-greet opportunities at all times throughout the day as well. From classic Disney pals to the Princesses, guests could grab pictures with all their favorites. There’s Minnie in her new adventure outfit, Captain Mickey, Captain Hook on Pirate Night, and some characters even don their formal attire on dress-up night.

Not to mention, there were also dance parties, deck parties, and other fun events featuring Disney’s Fab Five.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Additionally, Disney Treasure hosts other signature events like Tink’s Neverland Challenge in the Hero Zone, the always-fun Jack-Jack’s Diaper Dash, the upbeat Let’s Set Sail sail away party, and the iconic Pirate Night. Only on Disney Cruise Line can guests don their finest pirate attire and rock out to the Pirates of the Caribbean deck party and Pirate’s Rockin Parlay Party complete with fireworks!

Of course, there are other up-charge activities available as well. These include liquor tastings, the Senses Spa’s Rainforest Room (thermal suite), Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for the kids, the Untangled Salon and Hook’s Barbery for hair and nail services, and Bingo, among others.

Thus, there is never a dull moment on Disney Treasure!

Entertainment

No one tells a story like Disney. In fact, from the moment you step into the Grand Hall, Disney Treasure takes guests on a cruise adventure. The theming in the public spaces, like the three-story atrium, transports guests to a whole new world. However, the main theater entertainment will test how far you’ll go.

In the Walt Disney Theater, guests are treated to three unique Disney production shows. In Seas the Adventure, we settled in for a voyage with Captain Minnie, firstmate Goofy, and the rest of the crew for a Welcome Aboard type revue show. With popular Disney songs from the likes of Elsa, Tiana, and Hercules, you and your kids are sure to love it.

Seas the Adventure Disney Treasure

New for Disney Treasure is A Tale of Moana. Featuring a cast of performers from the South Pacific, this modified retelling of the Disney animated film should not be missed. In fact, we watched it twice as it was that entertaining. Featuring all of the high notes from the film, with some theater magic and an elaborate stage set, it is as heartwarming as the original.

This is the most popular show on the ship. So, don’t be surprised if guests line up an hour (or more) in advance to ensure they get a seat when the theater doors open.

A Tale of Moana on Disney Treasure

Equally entertaining is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. This tale as old as time introduces elements of the 1990s animated classic with the live-action film remake from the 2000s. With a talented cast of performers and elaborate costumes and props, you can’t help falling in love with this production.

Beauty and the Beast on Disney Treasure

During a seven-night cruise, each of these three productions typically has three showtimes: two evening showtimes and a matinee on a different day. The main theater might also show first-run movies or headliner acts on other nights. Just check the Disney Cruise Line app for showtimes. During our sailing, we got to watch Mufasa, as well as two headliners: a magician and a ventriloquist.

Further, there are two intimate cinemas showing first-run Disney Movies, Never Land Cinema and Wonderland Cinema. So, we caught a screening of Moana 2 onboard while it was still in the theater. While the movies are free, the popcorn costs extra.

Pro Tip: You can score discounted popcorn refills if you have a Disney Parks refillable bucket. Or, you can purchase a refillable bucket while on the ship. If purchased outright, popcorn will cost you $4, but it will only cost $1.75 for a refill in one of these buckets.

Bars and Lounges

As we do on all cruises, we visited all the bars and lounges on Disney Treasure. It might surprise those who have not sailed on a DCL ship to know that there are quite a few bars. While the drinks are undoubtedly for grown-ups, the venues are themed for Disney fans of all ages. And the theming in some of them is very elaborate.

While the bars’ locations are identical to those on Disney Wish, a few key lounges have been rethemed.

Perhaps our favorite was the Haunted Mansion Parlor on Deck 3. Now, foolish mortals can unwind with some spirits in this one-of-a-kind lounge. Oh, and there are the drinks, too. With signature cocktails, a signature beer, and soda, this venue offers some of the most unique libations with a side of happy haunts.

Even if you are not a fan of the classic Disney attraction, the Haunted Mansion Parlor draws guests in with its immaculate attention to detail, ornate decor, and interactive elements like singing portraits and playful spooks on the digital screen behind the bar. Don’t pass up concoctions like the Chilling Challenge, The Happily Never After, and the Regions Beyond.

Equally fun for theme park fans is the Skipper Society. Taking comical nods from the Jungle Cruise attraction, this bar offers a signature cocktail menu and immersive decor. Home to trivia contests, arts and crafts sessions, and live music at night, the Skipper Society wears many hats throughout the day. While taking a trip downriver, you will want to order a Salted Caramel-tini, the Safari So Good, and the Skipper Sipper.

Perhaps the least themed new space is the Scat Cat Lounge. This piano bar pays homage to the Disney animated classic The Aristocats, with more subtle nods found in the wallpaper and decor. While the piano music was subdued, we liked the signature cocktail menu. Among our favorites was the Grape Jam cocktail, made with peanut butter whiskey. You could also sip Purrfect Tinis like the Crème de La Crème and the Francais.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Another intricately themed new venue is the Periscope Pub. Inspired by the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction, this nautical pub is home to its own craft beers. It’s also the ship’s resident sports pub with several large televisions to catch a game.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Not to mention, the venue offers bar bites for an up-charge like chicken wings, burgers, German pretzels, and more. However, we feel the venue could use some live music, like a pub guitarist in the evenings.

Disney Treasure also has two cafes serving signature coffees and cold brew-infused cocktails, the Hei-Hei Cafe and Jade Cricket Cafe. The ship even has a “speakeasy”. At certain times of day, Hook’s Barbery opens up as a gentlemen’s parlor making customized Old Fashioned cocktails.

Aft on Deck 12 is The Rose. This upscale bar is the perfect place for a pre-dinner or after-dinner cocktail for adults dining at one of the two specialty restaurants on the ship.

The Rose on Disney Treasure

On the pool decks, there are two small pool bars and the Lookout Bar. The Cove Bar is on Deck 13 aft, and the Currents Bar is forward on Deck 14. These bars serve a similar menu with distinct cocktails, including the Strawberry Basil Pop Spirtiz, made with popsicles.

While many of the bars are elaborately themed and the menus feature signature cocktails that are delicious, Disney Cruise Line does not offer a drink package. So, even though we are not big drinkers, we easily racked up a bar tab of over $1K for the week-long cruise including alcoholic drinks and specialty coffees.

Main Dining Room

Along with its casual dining, Disney Treasure shined with its main dining.

The cruise ship features three distinctly unique main dining rooms as part of its rotational dining concept. Each morning, one main dining room is open for breakfast. The offerings here are pretty standard fare. Likewise, most days, one main dining room is open for lunch. This was usually 1923.

1923 Dining Room on Disney Treasure

Like all DCL ships, all cruisers are assigned a set dining time, and there is no flexible dining option. We had the early dinner seating at 5:30 PM. For our cruise, Devina and Caro were our waitstaff team. They were terrific, friendly, and attentive.

On this 7-day itinerary, we rotated through all three dining rooms twice, getting to experience the unique atmosphere and dinner menus. Yes, each dining room has two unique menus so you don’t have to eat the same thing twice. The seventh menu is a Pirate Night menu served across all three dining rooms.

On Deck 3 midship, the 1923 dining rooms pay homage to Roy and Walt Disney. With hundreds of Disney artifacts from the animation vault, this swanky dining room is reminiscent of an early 20th-century supper club.

Before you settle in for dinner, you should order a Riverside Old Fashioned. The menus here are equally upscale. Our favorites included baked oysters, tortiglioni pasta, filet mignon, and lobster tail. You also can’t pass up the apple pie or the apple cheesecake for dessert.

On Deck 4 aft is the Worlds of Marvel. This was the least appetizing of the three main dining rooms for us. Although, the Linguine Nero is one of the best dishes on the ship. Other stand-out menu items included starters like the line’s signature Porcini Sacchetti, the chicken schnitzel, and the celebration cake or key lime pie.

The Worlds of Marvel is an interactive dining experience. All around the dining room, screens come to life with characters from the Marvel Universe. There are two different shows during a seven-night rotation, and you might even get a selfie with a real-life superhero during dinner.

Brand new for Disney Treasure is Plaza de Coco. This dinner show features characters and music from the Disney Pixar animated film Coco. Miguel and his family welcome guests for a lively and colorful celebration in Mariachi Plaza. The second dinner, Dia de los Muertos, is when Miguel reunites with his great-great-grandparents.

This restaurant was another one of our favorite additions to the ship. While the theming and decor were great, it doesn’t hurt that we enjoy Mexican food too.

Of course, both meals start with nacho chips and salsa. From there, we enjoyed three-course meals perfectly paired with mariachi music and other live entertainment on the center stage.

Across the two nights, we sampled starters like the beef empanada, shrimp diabla, and chorizo croquettes. Modern takes on authentic Mexican classics like pollo asada and Michoacan carnitas paired well with the signature cocktails. For dessert, tres leches and churros were the perfect sweet ending.

Also, remember that Disney Cruise Line offers free 24-hour room service. Breakfast consists of mostly continental items, fresh fruit, bagels, and cereal. During the day, there are more hearty items like chicken wings and chicken tenders. Of course, we couldn’t pass up a few Mickey ice cream bars either.

Room Service for Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

Specialty Restaurants

While there are various complimentary dining options, there are a couple up-charge eateries on Disney Treasure as well. You should consider making reservations at these specialty dining venues, especially if you are looking for a break from the kids and the main dining room.

The two adult-only specialty restaurants are on Deck 12. Both restaurants are themed around Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

There is Enchante, serving fine French cuisine from the charming maitre’d, Lumiere. Palo Steakhouse is themed after The Beast’s loyal butler, Cogsworth. We dined at both restaurants to ensure we ate everything on the cruise ship.

Palo Steakhouse is a cruise line evolution of the Palo Italian eatery on other DCL ships. This restaurant offers the best of both worlds.

Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

The menu boasts Italian classics like fried calamari, freshly made pasta, pizzas, and more. Steak lovers will want to carve up one of the choice or prime selections, along with sides. I opted for the 4-course Prezzo Fisso for dinner, a great value for $50. Heidi ordered a la carte.

On select days, Palo also serves brunch. This multi-course menu offers a little bit of everything for a flat fee. We did our best to work through the menu during a sea day.

It was a feast, from omelets to antipasti and pizza to entrees like chicken parmesan and lasagna. Of course, there is dessert as well.

The other adult-only option is Enchante. Again, the restaurant offers an a la carte option or several tasting menus. With a seasonal menu curated by a three-star Michelin chef, we expanded our palette one night of our cruise.

I tested the Passion menu. Again, Heidi went with some a la carte options.

While the service was superb and the setting was elegant and refined, the food did not justify the hefty price tag in our opinion. If we were to dine at Enchante again, we would stick with entrees, a cheese course, and dessert.

In addition to these two specialty restaurants, guests can grab pub fare at the Periscope Pub. The a la carte menu offers tasty bites priced from $8 to $16. This was a popular spot on our cruise during the football playoffs.

Yes, there is free soft-serve ice cream at Minnie’s Delights. But, for those with a sweet tooth, you might consider Jumbeaux Sweets, a Zootopia-themed confectionery.

With 30+ flavors of ice cream and gelato, cupcakes, cookies, and candies, you could rack up quite a bill. We recommend skipping the frozen treats and opting for something else, like the Paw Shortbread Sandwich, an elevated take on Nick Wilde’s pawpsicle.

Staterooms

Disney Cruise Line offers some of the largest staterooms at sea. That said, we are accustomed to staying in Deluxe Family Verandah staterooms on DCL ships. For this trip, we booked a guaranteed verandah cabin, and we were assigned to a deluxe verandah stateroom, cabin 7194, a few weeks before sailing. This Deck 7 stateroom was almost fully aft on the ship’s port side and featured Aladdin theming.

According to the Disney Cruise Line website, this 7A category stateroom measured approximately 200 square feet.

Disney Treasure cruise ship review - stateroom

Not missing any details, along with the art in the cabin, the carpet in the hallway also coordinated with the 1992 classic film. As further guidance for guests, the signature beetle and hidden mickeys in the rug are facing forward. This design element assists guests in figuring out which way to walk when returning back home in the evenings.

Upon entering our stateroom, the split bathrooms were to our right, with the closets to our left. The queen-sized bed was on the midship wall facing aft. Beyond the bed were the sofa, desk, and balcony.

We just stayed in a Deluxe Family verandah stateroom during our media sailing on Disney Treasure, and the size difference was noticeable. In fact, for a seven-night cruise, we had just enough storage space in this cabin for all our clothes and gear. Still, compared to other contemporary cruise lines, the room was certainly on par with capacity and finishes.

Like most staterooms on DCL ships, our cabin featured two bathrooms. This split bathroom design makes it easy for families to get ready in the morning. With a separate shower/sink and toilet/sink setup, multiple family members can use the facilities simultaneously. Even though we are just a couple, this setup definitely came in handy when preparing to go ashore in the mornings.

The sofa was adequately sized, and the desk featured plenty of shelves and drawers. Although, the closets were a bit on the narrow side. One closest featured a small clothes bar and only a few shelves while the other featured a full clothes bar. This limited our ability to stow away shoes and our packing cubes with undergarments and the like.

Another big difference between our two Disney Treasure cabins was the balcony. While most balconies on the ship measure approximately 43 square feet, ours was noticeably smaller. This stateroom was the last accommodation before an aft-facing stateroom, so our balcony was curved and narrow at one end. It had just barely enough space for our chairs and table.

Recap of Our Honest Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Review

There is a lot to love about Disney Treasure.

From the premium menu selections in the main dining rooms to the theming and decor of the public areas, Disney Cruise Line ships are like deluxe resorts at sea. Those with a keen eye for detail will appreciate the elaborate theming and elegant spaces, from the chandelier and bronze statue in the Grand Hall, to the Agrabah-inspired motifs, right down to the wallpaper in the Haunted Mansion Parlor.

The staterooms offer plenty of space and have innovative designs perfect for families and couples alike.

For those with kids, the youth centers are a big draw. The Deck 2 Oceaneer Club has themed rooms resembling the Millennium Falcon and playrooms themed after several Disney Princesses.

Older kids have separate spaces too, including Edge for tweens and Vibe for teens. These venues are home to video games, organized activities, dance parties, and more.

Of course, adults can have a good time on Disney cruises too! There are various daytime and nighttime events; granted, the vast majority are Disney-themed though. Still, you can partake in trivia and game shows, take in a movie, enjoy an elegant dinner without the kids, relax in the Quiet Cove, or sip signature cocktails while enjoying live music.

With that said, the public spaces can get busy, especially during character meet-and-greets and parties, or even the lines to take photos. Crowds can also be an issue at shows. For one showing of A Tale of Moana, we arrived 30+ minutes before showtime and quite literally got some of the last seats in the theater.

Disney Treasure cruise ship

Then, there is the price. Our guaranteed balcony cabin was just over $5,000 for a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary. So, Disney Treasure is considerably more money than similar-sized cruise ships catering to families from the likes of Royal Caribbean or Carnival Cruise Line. Thus, you will be paying a premium to cruise with Mickey and friends. However, given the reactions we saw amongst our fellow cruisers, for many, it was well worth it.

In fact, we too think that Disney Treasure is a notch above other ships in the fleet, including Disney Wish. We loved the Grand Hall, Haunted Mansion Parlor, and Coco-themed restaurant. The ship truly does set the stage for an unforgettable adventure, albeit with a hefty price tag.

Disney Cruise Line Brings Back ‘Dine and Play’ Program For Kids https://eatsleepcruise.com/disney-cruise-line-dine-and-play-returning/ https://eatsleepcruise.com/disney-cruise-line-dine-and-play-returning/#respond Fri, 31 Jan 2025 23:30:44 +0000 https://eatsleepcruise.com/?p=92014 After years without it, Disney Cruise Line has announced that it is bringing back its popular Dine and Play program for kids.

The post Disney Cruise Line Brings Back ‘Dine and Play’ Program For Kids appeared first on EatSleepCruise.com.

Disney Cruise Line has announced that it is bringing back its Dine and Play program for kids. The cruise line previously offered Dine and Play prior to the worldwide pandemic. Until now, it had not returned to any ships in the fleet.

How the Dine and Play Program Works

The Dine and Play program is only available during the second seating at dinner, and is open to kids ages three to 10 who are registered at the kids’ club onboard, called the Oceaneer Club.

At the start of dinner, servers will ask guests if they’re participating in Dine and Play — it’s not required, but rather is offered as a perk for parents to enjoy a relaxing dinner while their kids have fun in the club. Kids who are participating that night will receive their meal quickly, while the adults are served at a more leisurely pace.

After about 45 minutes, Youth Activities Counselors arrive and parents should bring them to the dining room entrance to be signed into the Oceaneer Club. The counselors then escort kids to the club, eliminating the need for parents to do it and allowing them to continue enjoying the meal.

first impressions Disney Treasure

Dine and Play will be returning to the Disney Cruise Line fleet in a phased approach:

  • February 1: Disney Treasure and Disney Dream
  • February 2: Disney Fantasy and Disney Magic
  • February 3: Disney Wonder and Disney Wish

Of course, parents are also welcome to request that their kids eat dinner first and then take them to the Oceaneer Club themselves. This may be a preferable option for some families if the kids are itching to get to the club and don’t want to wait until the youth counselors arrive.

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Treasure, offers a variety of bars and lounges for all the adults to enjoy some grown-up beverages. Not sure where to start? Our complete look at all the Disney Treasure bars includes all of the bar menus and drink prices to help you plan your upcoming cruise vacation.

Our Complete Look at All the Disney Treasure Bars With Menus and Drink Prices

When it comes to drinks on Disney Cruise Line, guests can enjoy water, coffee, tea, lemonade, Coca-Cola fountain drinks, some juices, hot chocolate, Vitamin water, iced tea, and milk included in the cruise fare. However, all alcoholic beverages will cost extra.

Unforunately, Disney Cruise Line does not offer traditional drink packages either. So, you may want to budget ahead for a bar tab if you plan on checking out all the signature bars and specialty cocktails on the ship.

Disney Treasure bars

Preludes (Deck 3)

Preludes is located on Deck 3 forward on both sides of the Walt Disney Theatre. This will be your closest spot to grab a drink or some popcorn before the nightly entertainment occurring in this venue. You won’t want to miss the shows which include Disney Seas the Adventure, The Tale of Moana, and Beauty and the Beast.

PRO TIP: If you bring your resuable popcorn bucket from the Disney parks, you can get refills at a cheaper price. If purchased outright, popcorn will cost you $4, but it will only cost $1.75 for a refill. If you want to purchase a Disney Treasure reusuable popcorn bucket on the ship, it will cost $9 and $1.75 for subsequent refills.

Disney Treasure bars

Skipper Society (Deck 3)

Skipper Society places guests in the middle of a popular Disney Parks attraction, the Jungle Cruise. Guests can board the Ems Empress and settle in for a three-week journey that lasts only 12 minutes. Although, the servers here did not receive a crash course in humor.

Still, we were impressed with the overall theming and references to the famous attraction throughout the venue. Beneath a canopy of jungle foliage, the Skipper Society wears many hats. During the day, there are arts & crafts sessions, trivia, and various other family events. In the evenings, guests can indulge in themed cocktails alongside live music.

Skipper Society Menu

Haunted Mansion Parlor (Deck 3)

Foolish mortals now have a place to enjoy some spirits on Deck 3 of Disney Treasure. The immaculately detailed Haunted Mansion Parlor brings to life yet another Disney Parks iconic attraction. Adorned with early 20th-century furniture and the famous wallpaper, the venue’s eerily nautical vibe pairs well with the deliciously chilling drinks from the specialty cocktail menu.

Be warned, once the clock strikes 13, the parlor comes alive with “mysterious happenings”. These can include singing wall art, a séance with Madame Leota, or other playful spooks on the digital screen behind the bar.

We highly encourage you to grab a drink and enjoy one of the most intricately designed and immersive venues at sea. Just remember, no flash pictures, please, as these spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights.

Haunted Mansion Parlor Menu

Scat Cat Lounge (Deck 3)

Infused with the elegance of an old-school jazz club, the Scat Cat Lounge interprets the groovy penthouse performance of “Ev’erybody Wants to be a Cat” from The Aristocats. A paw-printed baby grand piano, various cats adorning the walls, and live music, evoke the same sophistication of the film.

Alongside the decor, the venue’s delicious craft cocktail menu makes this the ideal place for a pre-dinner or post-dinner drink.

Of note, this piano lounge is reoriented when compared to Disney Wish. Now, the bar serves patrons in the Scat Cat Lounge and guests looking for a drink in the Grand Hall.

Scat Cat Lounge Menu

Sarabi (Deck 4)

Centrally located on Deck 4, with balcony seating on Deck 5, Sarabi is a new entertainment venue on Disney Treasure. Named for the lioness matriarch from The Lion King, Sarabi hosts a multitude of activities and entertainment throughout the cruise. This theater transforms from a daytime setting for families into an adult-exclusive space in the evenings. It hosts activities like the Match Your Mate game show, the Silent Disco, and the new interactive Indiana Jones show: Choose Wisely.

There’s even a full bar with signature cocktails. The venue also serves popcorn to enjoy during one of the movies at the nearby theaters.

Sarabi Cocktail Menu

HeiHei Cafe (Deck 4)

Named for Moana’s trusty sidekick, Heihei Café echoes the scalloped seashells and reflective blue waters of the Southern Pacific Isle of Motunui. This cafe on Deck 4 is one of the two main specialty coffee venues on Disney Treasure. It serves coffee, tea, espresso-based drinks, cold brew cocktails, wines, pressed juices, and more throughout the day.

HeiHei Cafe Menu

Disney Treasure Bars

Hook’s Barbery (Deck 4)

While technically not a bar, Hook’s Barbery onboard Disney Treasure provides a unique and upscale touch. This venue actually includes a whiskey bar for the gents while getting a salon service. Special events and whiskey tastings also occur here.

There is no physical menu, but you can basically create your own smoked old fashioned from the available syrups, spirits, and smoked woods.

Periscope Pub (Deck 5)

Another venue themed after a Disney Parks attraction, the Persiscope Pub is Disney Cruise Line’s first venue inspired by the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The design of the submarine-style interiors calls upon 19th century steampunk influences with polished metals and industrial touches.

This casual locale is the perfect spot for guests to unwind and watch live sports and news while ordering from a menu of craft brews and light bites. The venue features three signature beers, select cocktails, and irresistible pub fare like potato puffs, chicken wings, German pretzels, and more.

Periscope Pub Menu

Jade Cricket Cafe (Deck 5)

Inspired by Mulan, the Jade Cricket Cafe honors the Fa family’s lucky cricket, Cri-Kee, who is represented by a jade sculpture on the bar top. From the central moon gate to the flowers adorning the walls, symbols of Mulan’s strength, beauty, and heritage fill the café.

On Deck 5, Jade Cricket Cafe serves a similar menu to the HeiHei Cafe one deck below, including espresso-based beverages adorned with a little Disney magic. It’s also a great place to grab some espresso martinis.

Jade Cricket Cafe Menu

The Lookout (Deck 11)

The Lookout Bar is one of the bars on the Deck 11 pool deck. It’s located nearby the Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods quick-service stations.

Much like a typical poolside bar, the Lookout Bar serves a variety of beers and seltzers, wines, and frozen cocktails. It also serves coffee and refreshers. Or, you might want to grab a Drink of the Day here while lounging poolside, which are available at the reduced cost of around $6.50.

Lookout Bar Menu

Disney Treasure Bars

Pool Bar (Deck 11)

Also located on Deck 11 are two smaller Pool Bars with a limited selection of beer and wine. It is also a spot to purchase a Disney Treasure cooler filled with your favorite beverages. The coolers are $19, or you can get it at a discounted rate of $11 when you take advantage of the cruise line’s “buy 5, get 1 free” promotions.

Marceline Market Café (Deck 11)

The Marceline Market is the buffet on Disney Treasure located aft on Deck 11. This food hall also features its own bar, the Marceline Market Café. Regardless of when you are dining here, all your favorite drinks are sure to be on the menu.

The menu includes espresso-based beverages, wines, beer, and a variety of other cocktails.

Marceline Market Cafe Menu

Wheezy’s Freezies (Deck 12)

Located near the Toy Story Splash Zone, you will find Wheezy’s Freezies. This quick-service station serves up a variety of frosty drinks to enjoy. These include smoothies and dole whip. All items at this spot are an up-charge.

Disney Treasure Bars

The smoothies range from $8-9 and dole whip is $6.50. You can also add a shot of rum to your dole whip for an additional fee.

Wheezy’s Freezies Menu

The Rose (Deck 12)

The Rose is a chic lounge located at the entrance of the specialty restaurants, Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. This venue is inspired by the fateful flower at the heart of the Beauty and the Beast film, from which the restaurants are also themed.

With tasteful décor, plush seating, and ocean views, this is the perfect spot to grab a pre-dinner or post-dinner cocktail. The menu features a list of luxurious cocktails, wines, and champagnes.

The Rose Cocktail Menu

Cove Café (Deck 13)

Located within the adult-only Quiet Cove on Deck 13 aft, the Cove Café is an indoor lounge serving gourmet coffees, teas, and specialty drinks throughout the day. This is a quiet spot to escape the heat and the kids for a bit of relaxation.

This was our go-to spot for our daily caffeine fix while on Disney Treasure. We also found ourselves here a few afternoons with our laptops catching up on some work.

Cove Café Menu

Cove Bar (Deck 13)

Also located within the Quiet Cove is the Cove Bar. This bar is an open-air watering hole serving beer, wine, and cocktails. This is the perfect adult-only pool bar while lounging in this area which includes an 18+ sundeck, whirlpool, and an infinity pool.

In addition to more traditional cocktails, this bar serves up freshing pop spritzes.

Cove Bar Menu

Disney Treasure Bars

Currents (Deck 14)

We realize that families might not be able to escape their kids for too long. So luckily, the Currents Bar features the same menu as the Cove Bar with many adult beverages. Currents is located on Deck 14 overlooking the Toy Story Splash Zone. It is also the closet bar to the secluded Chip and Dale’s Pool.

One of the best new cruise ships for 2025 has just set sail! Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s 6th ship, is now sailing 7-day Caribbean itineraries. If you have plans to cruise on this new ship, we have put together our complete Disney Treasure restaurants guide with menus so you can see what’s available at all the onboard dining spots.

Complimentary Disney Treasure Restaurants

There are several dining options that are included in your cruise fare with Disney Cruise Line. These include the main dining rooms, the Marceline Market buffet, and some other casual options. With so many great offerings, you certainly do not have to pay extra for dining (if you don’t want to). Though, Disney Treasure also offers a few adult-only specialty restaurants that are worth a try.

Disney’s Rotational Dining Concept

Disney Cruise Line does dining differently. Unlike most other cruise lines, which offer flexible dining options or a fixed dining schedule, this cruise line offers only the latter but with a twist.

Disney Treasure restaurants

All cruisers on Disney Treasure get an assigned dining time, either early dining at 5:45 PM or late dining at 8:15 PM. Guests then follow the same dining team through Disney Treasure’s three main dining rooms. Each main dining room offers a distinct ambiance, vibe, and signature menus. The main dining rooms include: 1923, Worlds of Marvel, and Plaza de Coco.

On a 7-day Disney Treasure sailing, this means you will get to enjoy each of the three restaurants twice with different menus each visit. Guests will dine at one of the dining rooms three times based on their rotation, but the special Pirate Night menu will be served across all three dining rooms this evening. A sample rotation would be 1231231.

You can check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once onboard the ship to see your specific restaurant rotation.

Each night’s menu features a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There’s also a Lighter Notes section which includes a specialty salad, sirloin steak, chicken breast, and salmon.

1923 (Deck 3)

The first of Disney Treasure’s main dining rooms is 1923. Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 is a celebration of the company. The décor in this venue pays homage to the golden age of animation and its Californian heritage. It includes drawings, props, and other tools of the trade.

This restaurant has two smaller venues, Walt Disney and Roy Disney, located on the portside and starboard sides of the ship respectively. These venues are aptly named for the men behind the Disney magic. Regardless of which restaurant you get assigned, you’ll be served the same menu.

The dinner menus include upscale selections like filet mignon, rack of lamb, and lobster tail.

1923 is also open for breakfast and lunch daily, with the exception of embarkation day lunch which is served in Plaza de Coco. Breakfast is generally from 8 to 9:30 AM, and lunch is from 12 to 1:30 PM. Of note, there is no sit-down lunch available during the ship’s visit to Castaway Cay.

Breakfast Menu | Lunch 1 | Lunch 2 | Lunch 3 | Lunch 4 | Lunch 5 | Lunch 6

Cocktail Menu | Dinner Menu 1 | Dessert 1 | Dinner Menu 2 | Dessert 2 | Kids Menu

Pirate Night Menu | Pirate Kids Menu

Worlds of Marvel (Deck 4)

The second of the complimentary Disney Treasure restaurants is Worlds of Marvel. This restaurant is a Marvel cinematic dining adventure at sea. In Avengers: Quantum Encounter, guests play an interactive role in an Avengers mission. They’ll join Ant-Man and Wasp as they protect Quantum Core technology from a fearsome foe. You may even get a special visit from Spider-Man.

New for Disney Treasure is a second show, Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix. This more passive show unfolds on the screens throughout the restaurant as guests eat to the beat of hit songs from throughout the decades that are prominently portrayed in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

There is a unique menu that goes along with each show featuring items like a tuna steak, chicken schnitzel, beef wellington, and linguini nero.

Cocktail Menu | Dinner Menu 1 | Dinner Menu 2 | Kids Menu

Plaza de Coco (Deck 5)

Also brand-new on Disney Treasure, Plaza de Coco is the third complimentary main dining room. The story of the Rivera family entertains guests when Miguel and his familia gather in Mariachi Plaza for a colorful, music-filled journey that celebrates family memories. The second dinner, Dia de los Muertos, is when Miguel reunites with his great-great-grandparents.

Noteworthy characters and songs from the Pixar film come to life alongside an array of artful dishes and festive flavors. The menu includes traditional Mexican dishes with a modern touch, such as beef empanadas, chicken enchiladas, pork carnitas, and churros.

With a central stage, communal atmosphere, and vibrant decor, diners are encouraged to sing along with their families during this lively dinner experience.

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods (Deck 11)

Located in the center of all the action on the pool deck is the Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods. These quick-service stations, styled after a seaside boardwalk, are the perfect spot to grab lunch, dinner, or a snack. The Festival of Foods is open most days from around 11 AM until 6 PM, with the grill remaining open until 9 PM.

This open-air eatery features five themed food stalls: Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Minnie’s Delights. For BBQ, guests can sample items like brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. At Donald’s Cantina, guests can build their own tacos, bowls, or burritos. And, at Goofy’s Grill, guests can snack on chicken tenders, fries, burgers, and hot dogs.

The Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods includes a sizable seating area nearby for guests to enjoy their meals.

Marceline Market (Deck 11)

Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market is a stylish food hall inspired by popular marketplaces around the world. Disney Treasure’s take on the typical cruise ship buffet features a number of food stations, a bar, and both indoor and outdoor seating.

The Marceline Market includes a variety of cuisine from American classics, international selections, seafood options, soups and salads, baked goods and desserts, and more. There is even a kids section featuring items like Mickey waffles for breakfast and chicken tenders for lunch.

Be sure to make your way to the back of the venue as this is where the custom omelet station is in the morning and the seafood bar in the afternoon.

Marceline Market is open for breakfast (around 6:30/7 to 10:45 AM) and lunch (around 12 to 2 PM). It is NOT open for dinner like most other cruise line buffets.

Room Service

Room service is available 24 hours a day on Disney Treasure. Further, most room service items are complimentary on Disney Cruise Line for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast items are available for delivery from 5 to 9:30 AM, and the all-day menu is available outside of breakfast hours. The room service menu includes items like soups, salads, burgers, desserts, as well as continental breakfast items. You can also ask for the off-menu Mickey ice cream bars!

Specialty Restaurants on Disney Treasure

While Disney Treasure does offer a number of complimentary dining venues, this new cruise ship also features a few specialty venues. These venues do all have up-charges, are adult-only, and have dress codes.

If you plan to dine at either of the two specialty restaurants, you should make reservations pre-cruise, as popular dining times do fill up quickly.

Disney Treasure restaurants

Palo Steakhouse (Deck 12)

The upscale Palo Steakhouse is located at the aft of the ship. This restaurant is an evolution of the Palo restaurant found on other DCL ships. Now, Palo Steakhouse combines authentic Italian dining with a modern steakhouse.

In a setting inspired by Cogsworth from the Beauty and the Beast film, guests can enjoy an elegant dinner with ocean views as the backdrop. With warm wood tones, shiny metal, and ornate clocks, this venue feels very luxurious.

While dining at Palo Steakhouse, guests can choose the Prezzo Fisso menu or order a la carte. The Prezzo Fisso menu includes Antipasti, Insalata, Il Secondo, and Dolce with more limited options for each category.

There is a $50 per person up-charge for the Prezzo Fisso menu. Palo also serves brunch (on the two sea days and the Grand Cayman day) for $50.

Enchanté (Deck 12)

Enchanté offers the most luxurious dining experience on Disney Treasure, also located at the aft of deck 12 on the starboard side. This specialty restaurant features a gourmet menu crafted by Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement. Chef Lallement also helped to create the menu for the French-inspired Remy restaurant on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

With décor inspired by Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast, this venue is romantic and intimate with candlelight, shimmering light fixtures, a soft blue color palette, and metallic embellishments.

Like Palo, guests can choose a prix-fixe menu that includes multiple courses for $135 or pay a la carte. There’s also additional wine, champagne, or zero-proof drink pairing options. Lunch is available at Enchanté on the two sea days as well.

Periscope Pub (Deck 5)

The Periscope Pub is a nautically themed pub that celebrates Walt Disney’s 1954 film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and the Disney Parks attraction that was open at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. The submarine-style decor calls upon 19th century steampunk influence with polished metals and industrial touches.

With a selection of custom craft brews available exclusively aboard Disney Treasure, along with a few cocktails, this is a great casual spot to relax with friends. Guests can watch live sports events and even grab some irresistible bar bites like potato puffs, chicken wings, and German pretzels at a la carte prices. Prices range from $8 up to $16 for items like fish & chips or a burger.

Jumbeaux Sweets (Deck 11)

For all those with a sweet tooth, you will definitely want to check out Jumbeaux Sweets on Disney Treasure. The venue is reminiscent of the popular ice cream parlor, Jumbeaux Café, from Disney’s “Zootopia”.

Surrounded by playful pink interiors, Victorian-style architecture, and a sculpture of Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, guests can indulge in more than 20 flavors of handmade gelato, 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbets, and other specialty treats like the Paw Shortbread Sandwich, an elevated take on Nick Wilde’s pawpcicle.

Disney Cruise Line has announced that not only will it be building a fourth Wish-class ship, but it will also be introducing a new ship class in the near future.

New Ship Class

Disney has ordered three vessels in a new not-yet-named ship class, which will feature industry-leading technology and support its environmental goals.

Each vessel will come in at around 100,000 gross tons, putting this class of ships right in between Disney Magic/Disney Wonder and Disney Dream/Disney Fantasy in terms of size. For reference, Disney Magic and Wonder are just under 84,000 gross tons each, while Disney Dream and Fantasy are just under 130,000 gross tons each. This makes the new upcoming class the second smallest class in the Disney Cruise Line fleet — they’ll be just 20 percent larger than Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

For further reference, the newest class, the Wish class, features Disney’s largest ships that are currently sailing — Disney Wish and Treasure are 144,000 gross tons each.

The three new ships, which will hold 3,000 guests each, are planned for delivery in 2029, 2030, and 2031. Among the lightest cruise ships of their size in the industry, the new vessels will save fuel with a streamlined hull, next-generation power and propulsion systems, and numerous other operations optimized for energy efficiency. The ship will also be outfitted with a battery system to support and supplement the main engines.

When in port, the new ships will be able to rely on shore power technology to turn off their engines and “plug in” to a port’s energy grid to run onboard systems. They’ll also have the capability to operate on a variety of fuels, including hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol fuels, which remaining adaptable to additional fuel options that become available to the cruise industry.

The new class will also feature initiatives to minimize waste, conserve water, and align with The Walt Disney Company’s 2030 environmental goals.

Fourth Wish Class Ship

In addition to the new ship class, Disney Cruise Line will introduce an additional sister ship to Disney Wish (which debuted in 2022), Disney Treasure (2024), and Disney Destiny (set to debut this November). The fourth Wish class ship is set for a 2027 delivery and will be around 144,000 gross tons like her sisters, and able to accommodate 4,000 guests. She will be powered by liquefied natural gas.

“As we expand our fleet, it is important that we continue to provide a variety of experiences for our guests,” said Thomas Mazloum, president of New Experiences Portfolio & Disney Signature Experiences. “Families enjoy the diversity of vacations we offer, from our classic vessels to our Wish-class ships. They also expect to explore a broad range of destinations, including those that prefer to host smaller ships. At the same time, we are focused on implementing new technology and designs that align with our longstanding commitment to the environment.”

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, Disney Treasure, just set sail. We were thrilled to be hosted by DCL on a 3-day preview cruise to check out all this second Triton Class ship has to offer. For this sailing, we stayed in a Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. See how it compares to other ships in the fleet, and the competition, in our latest cabin review.

Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah Review

Shortly prior to our cruise on Disney Treasure, we were assigned to cabin 9592. Reviewing the deck plans, this starboard side balcony cabin on Disney Treasure is considered a 4B category stateroom on Deck 9. This balcony stateroom is located fairly midship close to a bank of elevators.

According to Disney Cruise Line’s website, a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is approximately 284 square feet and sleeps 4 to 5 guests. These cabins include a queen sized bed, an optional upper-berth single pull-down bed, and a single convertible sofa. Some also have a single wall pull-down bed for a 5th guest.

Being on Deck 9, this cabin is pretty equidistant from the public spaces on the ship. The Grand Hall and main indoor venues start on Deck 5, whereas the pool deck and accompanying outdoor spaces start on Deck 11.

The rooms on Disney Treasure are themed for adventure, featuring depictions from your favorite Disney films. They include Aladdin (Deck 2, 6, 7), Pocahontas (Deck 2, 6, 7), Encanto (Deck 8, 9), Up (Deck 8, 9), Nemo (Deck 10, 11), and Luca (Deck 10, 11). Our particular stateroom featured an Encanto mural above the bed.

Given we had sailed on sister ship, Disney Wish, in the same cabin category, we had a good idea of what to expect in terms of size, layout, and design. Still, we were eager to check out our stateroom. From the moment we entered the Agrabah-inspired Grand Hall, we were in love with the decor on Disney Treasure.

Layout of a Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom

If you’ve never sailed on Disney Cruise Line, then you’ll immediately notice the increase in square footage when comparing this Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah to balcony cabins from other cruise lines.

The color palette in this cabin is rather subdued, with light wood and shades of tans and blues in the carpet, furniture, and other finishes. The vibrant artwork is the focal point, with the mural over the bed and other accents offering just enough pops of color to give the stateroom some character.

Immediately entering our stateroom, the bathroom was to the left and the closet was to the right. There was also additional corner shelves for storage on the same wall as the closet.

Beyond the bathroom and closet was the queen bed. The queen bed was on the forward wall facing aft.

Continuing past the bed, there was the sitting area and desk. The convertible sofa was to the left and the fairly large desk was to the right. The upper-berth pull-down bed is located above the sofa.

Finally, there was the balcony. The size of the balcony is slightly larger than a typical balcony on modern day cruise ships. There is enough room for 2 upright chairs and a small round table.

Inside the Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah

Bathroom

The bathroom in this Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is a nice upgrade from comparable cabins on other cruise lines. It has the typical Disney Cruise Line split bathroom setup which is great for families. This includes a bathroom with a vanity, sink, and shower/tub combo and a half bathroom with a vanity, sink, and toilet.

The finishes are very neutral with light wood and white tile. There is also adequate counter space and storage, with each vanity consisting of three small shelves off to one side.

The full-sized shower/tub combo features a glass door. There are also a couple additional shelves in the shower for storage, along with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel dispensers. The half bath with the toilet also has a liquid hand soap dispenser. There’s even a night light.

Closet

The closets in this stateroom offer plenty of storage for a family. The closet nearest the door has two sections. One section has a full length clothes bar with hangers. The other section has a clothes bar along with shelves. This is also where you’ll find the safe and life jackets.

Additionally, there is another closet near the balcony. This closet features ten cube-sized shelves which are perfect for storing packing cubes, shoes, and other items.

Main Cabin Area

The main area of this Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is certainly roomier than competitor cabins. There is also a privacy curtain to separate the sitting area from the bed, which would come in handy if you are traveling with kids.

The queen bed was comfortable and featured signature Disney bedding. We had no issues falling asleep after our long days and nights on the ship.

There was a night stand on each side of the bed with a small drawer. Across from the bed was the television.

Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

We also appreciated the outlets near the bed for charging our phones and watches overnight. Specifically, one side of the bed has one USB, one USB-C, and one European outlet. The other side of the bed has two power outlets and one USB-C outlet.

The sitting area is spacious by cruise ship standards and has additional Encanto-inspired wall art. The loveseat provided plenty of space for two adults, along with a small end table. The sofa converts to a single bed if needed. There is also an upper-berth pull-down bed above the sofa for a 4th guest. If you had a 5th sleeper, it would be located in this area as well.

Across the way is the desk. The desk is somewhat larger than what you typically find in a balcony cabin on cruise ships. There are three long shelves and two shorter shelves above the desk for storage as well as five total drawers. Here, you will also find the hair dryer and the mini-fridge.

In terms of outlets, you will find one European, two U.S., and 1 USB-C at the desk.

Balcony

The balcony in this Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom With Verandah is slightly deeper than a balcony on mega-ships from contemporary cruise lines. It is adequate in size with enough room for two upright chairs and a small table.

It’s always a great spot to enjoy the ocean breezes and watch our sail into and out of ports of call. However, given we were sailing a short media cruise, we didn’t get to relax here very much.

Recap of Our Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom

Similar to our experience on Disney Wish, we were more than happy with our Disney Treasure Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom. It provided plenty of space, storage, and comfort during our trip, along with direct access to ocean views and fresh air.

Even though there were just two of us, we feel there would certainly be enough space for a family of four. Not to mention, the split bathroom is a huge bonus when sailing with multiple family members in one cabin.

Overall, this stateroom was an ideal accommodation for our 3-day cruise on the line’s brand new ship; however, we suggest you review the cruise line’s website before booking to find the right fit for your travel party. Disney cruises tend to be more expensive when compared to the competition, but they do offer a variety of cabin types at varying price points. These range from moderately priced interior and oceanview cabins all the way up to elaborate suites like the brand-new Tomorrow Tower Suite in the ship’s funnel.
